expectations… completely surpassed

one of the things I love in life is when you hold an expectation… be it of quality, commitment, satisfaction or otherwise… and then to have that expectation exceeded. such was the case when I received ben & belinda’s wedding album earlier this week, another vision art masterpiece. there is simply no better example of fine art and impeccable quality than the fine art books that are crafted by vision art… beautifully leather bound, lay flat art books that are truly beautiful. these crafted albums are such a wonderful way to experience wedding photography… such a wonderful way to ‘read’ a story of pictures… I could not be more impressed. expectations… completely surpassed. if you find yourself considering having a wedding, engagement, or family album made, get one of these. you will not be disappointed…

the pogmore family…

a bit over a moth ago now, I shared with you some of the time I spent with sherridan, scott & willow, as they welcomed their new twin daughters (and twin sisters in willow’s case) into the world. a couple of weeks ago, I spent some more time with these guys, now settling in to their new life at home. I know sherridan & scott are sleep deprived. you could never tell. I know that they are feeling busy and tired. you could never tell. what you could tell… is how much they completely & utterly adore myla indigo & macy jade. I don’t know how they do it… but they truly make it look easy! they do what parents do. they do what family does. they love and support each other and their three beautiful little girls. they’ve got such a story to tell… and three adorable little girls to tell it about. but seriously… how they make it look so easy (and I know it’s not)… I’ll never know!

bec… 16 weeks

there are so many places just around the corner from home that hold a special place and a special piece of the story of my life so far. the last time that I had some photos taken in this special little pocket of coast, was with bec, over ten years ago… when we had some of our wedding photos taken. recently, we celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary and I took a look back at some of those photos. I looked like… and felt like… just a kid (I was I suppose)! this week, bec, addie, spence & I took a little walk down there so that I could take some pics of bec… our third bub on board, at sixteen weeks. as we wandered around, I looked at our little family, what we have created over the past years, what we are creating now, and I imagined… coming back here again, in the next few years, looking back at these pictures, this little part of our story and hearing addie, spence and our next little blessing telling me how ‘back then’ they look like ‘little kids’… it is always so nice when you can take a minute, get a bit still, and have a think about where you are in your story… right now. what it looks like, how it makes you feel. here’s a little look at bec… feeling great, looking beautiful as ever, getting her energy back, excitement building… and our little kidlets. exploring, running, being near the sea… being our little story.

sarah humphreys… hello

each time that I am asked, each time that I allowed… to tell someones story, to document a time that means a great deal to someone… I feel more and more privileged. I feel a great sense of responsibility when someone asks me to see, and then to capture, memories for them to cherish, on their behalf. so when sarah humphreys asked me to come along to the rhythm hut and document her releasing her brand new album ‘hello’, I couldn’t believe it. I have been a fan of sarah’s music, her honest and inspired lyricism… her story telling, for such a long time. so I was absolutely honoured to spend some time capturing an afternoon and an evening… sarah, jude, paul, just hanging out, setting up, sound-checking, relaxing, writing a set list, and then… doing what sarah does. sharing, singing, playing… telling some of her story… to some of her many, many dedicated fans and followers… of which, I, definitely, am one.

sarah’s new album ‘hello’ is, simply… wonderful. if you haven’t yet had a listen… do so over here.

no doubt, if you’re a central coast local and you haven’t already bought tickets to see sarah (along with the supremely talented mike mccarthy) play at the glass onion society tomorrow (yes tomorrow) night… you’ll be doing that right now!

ben & belinda… married

being asked to tell the story of ben & belinda’s wedding day, was for me, a humbling experience. ben is my brother in law and this was a family wedding in which everyone was involved. my wife bec was one of belinda’s bridesmaids and our two little kiddies were (obviously I’ll be biased here) the cutest flower girl and page boy there has ever been.

ben & belinda had picked a place extremely special to them both, a place where they love to spend time and where memories have been forged. they were set to be married perched atop sydney harbour in an intimate garden overlooking the harbour from mosman. the weather, however, had other ideas. as you will see, the day before was spectacular and sydney harbour seriously showed itself off. but we knew what had been predicted. still, hoping for the best, the plans continued as they had been laid out. even on the morning of the wedding, there was still hope that the weather would hold, however, as winds increased to 100km per hour and cyclonic like conditions set in, at the last minute, the ceremony was moved and unfortunately, delayed… we rang guests, spread the word and waited until we could bunker down inside the gunners barracks, where the reception was to be held.

one thing that was planned, however, never changed. ben & belinda… in a place they loved, surrounded by people they loved… were married. everything that seemed so important, faded away and friends and family surrounded ben & belinda and shared in their joy. plans changed, locations changed… the weather was so incredibly brutal, that even when we tried to step outside to take a few portraits in the fading winter light, we were close to literally being blown away!

and in the midst of a storm like no other… we celebrated love, we partied… and we shared in ben & belinda’s day… a day we will all remember, we will all cherish. I am so thankful that I can share the story of ben & belinda’s wedding with you. the weather (as brutal as it was), was still completely overshadowed by their story, by their love… not the other way around.

rock my wedding features mike & sophs wedding…

a little while ago, I shared mike & sophie’s incredible wedding with you. it was, truly, one of the most beautiful days that I have ever been a part of. this week, mike and soph’s day has been featured on the polka dotted pages of rock my wedding… the uk’s number one wedding blog. I am honoured that these guys thought enough of mike & soph’s ‘rain kissed day’ to want to share it with their readers, share it with the world. head over and take a look around. it is seriously a beautiful, wedding filled place, a place now featuring an amazing rain filled australian wedding like no other.

also, keep your eyes peeled… I will be posting the full story of ben & belinda’s incredible wedding day here soon. it is truly special and I am looking forward to sharing it… very soon.

the ghost family

homes play such a defining role in our lives… so true for these guys. when I spent a morning with the ghosts recently, it was in their beautiful home which they had painstakingly renovated… their family home, created with their own vision, their own blood sweat and tears, and dearly loved by their beautiful kids (of which buddy the collie is included)! we spent a morning together there, just before they were due to move out… preparing to find their next family home, the next home that will be filled with different memories, where different milestones and achievements will be celebrated… a home that will define a different time in their lives. I have no doubt that the memories created here are permanent, cherished and already remembered… but, we took some photos of some anyway!
