expectations… completely surpassed

one of the things I love in life is when you hold an expectation… be it of quality, commitment, satisfaction or otherwise… and then to have that expectation exceeded. such was the case when I received ben & belinda’s wedding album earlier this week, another vision art masterpiece. there is simply no better example of fine art and impeccable quality than the fine art books that are crafted by vision art… beautifully leather bound, lay flat art books that are truly beautiful. these crafted albums are such a wonderful way to experience wedding photography… such a wonderful way to ‘read’ a story of pictures… I could not be more impressed. expectations… completely surpassed. if you find yourself considering having a wedding, engagement, or family album made, get one of these. you will not be disappointed…

rock my wedding features mike & sophs wedding…

a little while ago, I shared mike & sophie’s incredible wedding with you. it was, truly, one of the most beautiful days that I have ever been a part of. this week, mike and soph’s day has been featured on the polka dotted pages of rock my wedding… the uk’s number one wedding blog. I am honoured that these guys thought enough of mike & soph’s ‘rain kissed day’ to want to share it with their readers, share it with the world. head over and take a look around. it is seriously a beautiful, wedding filled place, a place now featuring an amazing rain filled australian wedding like no other.

also, keep your eyes peeled… I will be posting the full story of ben & belinda’s incredible wedding day here soon. it is truly special and I am looking forward to sharing it… very soon.

mike mccarthy… the lion’s share

simply put… mike mccarthy’s latest album ‘the lion’s share’ is, exceptional. in my opinion, his best album to date. big call, I know, as there are so many that I have come to love over the years. but it seems, this album just hits a spot. brilliant writing, sensational playing, and produced exceptionally. if you haven’t picked it up yet, you can do so over here… you will not be disappointed. mike & his wife sophie along with kris, benny & miles have been touring to release ‘the lion’s share’, and on the weekend, they came home. home, that is… to avoca. mike’s stomping ground. tucked away in the beautiful avoca beach picture theatre on friday night, supported by mikes mate dan hannaford we were all able to experience mike releasing this piece of work. bringing it home. sharing… ‘the lion’s share’.

ben & belinda… married amidst the storm (a preview)

well… if you have been anywhere near sydney over the last few days you will know how ferocious the weather has been. yet it was in the very midst of hurricane strength winds and torrential rain that on friday afternoon, perched atop sydney harbour, ben and belinda found calm amongst the chaos. you will hear and see more of the story of ben and belinda’s special day here soon… including the story of how this isn’t the first time their love for one another has endured hurricane like conditions! special mention needs to made of the most precious and beautiful (in my biased opinion, as they belong to me) flower girl and page boy, not to mention my thoughts on one of the bridesmaids who just happens to be my wife! just as I learnt recently… and again this week… the weather, no matter how seemingly horrid it may be at the time, will never, ever stand in the way of love and a spectacular wedding.

mike & soph… married

this june we saw some of the wettest weather we had seen around here for quite sometime. although, leading up to mike & sophie’s day we were sure that there would be sun just around the corner. we were wrong… it was wet. really, really wet. and… it was amazing. mike and soph were married beneath a spectacular tree in a secluded arboretum in pearl beach in the pouring rain. then we headed to patonga where we spent some time relishing in how wonderful their wedding was… soph, barefoot on the beach… rain falling again. from there we headed to a spectacularly lit marquee on the waterfront for a fairy tale reception under a (finally) clearing winters night sky. you may think that ordinarily, rain on your wedding day would be memorable for the wrong reasons… but it wasn’t. in fact, it was the opposite. mike and soph’s wedding day was story book perfection… amazing and wonderful for everyone privileged enough to be a part of it. particularly, of course… mike and sophie. this was a totally amazing day. every bit of it… rain and all! congratulations mike and soph… and thank you. I feel truly blessed to have been a part of your day.

glee arrives at erina heights…

I cannot explain how excited I am that my good buddies, ben & jemima gleeson have opened their cracking new cafe just down the road in erina heights this week. I could not wait to get in there on wednesday morning when they opened for the first time and have benny pour me (several) double rizzies on their smoking papua new guinean bean. these guys seriously know their coffee. they also seriously love their coffee. and people. you really need to get yourself along there, have a chat to ben, jemima and their talented crew, and experience the incredible coffee experience that they provide. get benny to pull you a shot, pour you some magic latte art or get into a syphon or cold drip… whatever the coffee you need, it’s all there.

and it… is… epic. every, single, time.

if you happen to be a novocastrian… you probably already visit ben’s brother chris in glee’s darby street store (daily I’d suspect). if you don’t… do yourself a favour!

I popped back in later in the afternoon, hung out with benny for a while and caught a few pics of him settling in behind his machine in glee’s new home. so glad you’re back ben & jemima, and from day one… glee erina heights is rockin!

kris & cam… laying it down

recently I had the pleasure of spending a bit of time watching and listening to the incredibly talented kris morris and cam mackellar laying down one of kris’ beautiful tracks ‘be with me, gently’ in cam’s little home studio. as a musician, observing the writing process so closely is always a privilege and in this little room, filled with so much character and such an epic sound, this day was no exception. watching this collaboration unfold and being able to document what I saw both in still and video was such a memorable experience. you can have a look at some of the video and have a listen to the results over here… do yourself a favour… and you can take a look at some of the moments I captured right here.
