bec… 24 weeks

there are some times in life when time just seems to stand still and you find yourself feeling as though you are actually taking the time to look at what is happening around you, and absorb what’s going on, rather than just being carried along with it, at what seems to be an all too familiar frenetic pace… last weekend we had one of those days. bec has been owed, for some time now (by me) a day of all things retro and vintage. a day to shop, wander, eat, relax, and connect. so on the weekend, with neither of our usual ‘energy factories’ in tow, we took some time out. we headed up to a favourite little novocastrian spot that we love, with the express intention of finding some great cafe fare, browsing shops for as long as was deemed necessary, maintaining un-interupted adult style conversation, and swimming in the sea. what resulted was a blissful day that seemed like it would never end… just what was needed to remind us that no matter how busy life may seem, no matter how carried away we can become with the day to day… it doesn’t take much to slow down a notch and relish in life’s experiences.

(note: bec is now 24 weeks pregnant with our third child… experiences as described above may well be few and far between from this point forward!)

looking back… 2012

when I set out to grow this little business about a year ago, I never thought I would experience what I have so far. this year, I have been privileged to be able to spend time with some incredible people and share so many special moments… both to them, and I. I’ve shot some beautiful weddings and some incredible families. I’ve also shared some special news and special times from within my own little family… what I have taken away from this year though, is the relationships that I’ve formed, the stories that I have been able to be a part of, and in turn, been able to share. 2013 is going to be a fantastic year… with more stories to tell, weddings to experience and early on, a brand new website to share with you… I’m super excited about what’s ahead. I hope that you and your families have had a wonderful christmas and that you have a truly wonderful new year. you may have seen some of these special moments already throughout the year… but in looking back, here are some that I have found particularly special… families, weddings, babies, pregnancy, kids, mums, dads, husbands and wives…

happy birthday astro…

last week, along with so many others, I wished our friend astrid (more commonly referred to as astro), the happiest of birthday’s. spending the evening eating wonderful food, listening to great music and sharing stories amongst friends in a secret garden, magically lit… was truly wonderful. we feasted on a birthday cake the likes of which I have never seen before thanks to our friend jazz and marvelled at how astrid’s husband clint had managed to plan what she described as her ‘perfect birthday’, all the while keeping every detail a secret! all of you who know astrid, know of her totally infectious personality and genuine, unhidden love for her family, friends and people in general… astrid, you are a true friend and I hope the you had the most wonderful of 30th birthdays!
